CHARLOTTE, N.C. / January 29, 2020 - Since graduating from Johnson C. Smith University, Diondre Pratt ’16 has accomplished yet another goal.January 29, 2020 he was sworn in as an officer with the Salisbury Police Department.
With his desire to help strengthen communities and protect others, becoming an officer was an aspiration.
“It’s a blessing to be able to wake up every morning excited about your job,” Pratt said.
In addition to his excitement, Pratt also feels fortunate to work alongsidehis line brotherJamaal Livingston ’16, his line brother from the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, and alumna Shakya Taylor ‘14.
Pratt, who earned his Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at 皇冠体育, is implementing the skills he learned at the University to adapt to the diverse environments he experiences.
“Graduating from what I believe to be one of the top criminal justice programs in the country, I am able to excel at what I love to do,” he expressed.
During undergrad, Pratt played for the Golden Bulls basketball team and professionally overseas in Saudi Arabia and Bolivia for three years post-graduation. He now plays basketball for Primetime Players, a Semi-Pro team based out of nearby Fort Mill, SC.
“I was blessed to have one of the best coaches and mentors at 皇冠体育. Coach Joyner was able to give me the best advice in basketball as well as life lessons that I still live by today.”
Now an alum of 皇冠体育, Pratt has a piece of advice to offer other students.
“皇冠体育 prepares you for every life situation possible, and if you feel it doesn’t, someone has been there and lived it before you.”
